Thursday Thirteen # 65

Thirteen weird/funny/unusual place names we came across on our trip to Texas

1. Mousetail Landing State Park (TN)

2. Pig Trail Scenic Byway (pig trails are scenic? I think this one was in TN also.)

3. Dirty Creek

4. Little Skin Bayou

5. Big Skin Bayou

6. Bucksnort Road

7. Ogle Field

8. Turkeyfoot Rd. (Actually, this is somewhat cheating, as it's in our general area, but I still think it's funny. We used to live off Turkeyfoot Rd. in Erlanger.)

9. Blanket, TX (which isn't as funny as Dimebox or Luckenbach, but we weren't near there, so this will have to do.)

10. Midlothian, TX, which I kind of like, but it is an odd name.

11. Big Boggy Creek

12. Only, TN

13. And the one we found the very most hilarious: Toad Suck Park, AR . I sure wanna hear the story behind that one.

Yep, those are pretty strange. Can you imagine saying, "Let's go for a walk in Toad Suck Park" with a straight face???

Happy TT!

There must be a story behind all of them.

Midlothian is in Scotland, so presumably a homesick immigrant in a kilt named the one in Texas.

Oh I was tickled by #13 ~

And, have you been to Luckenbach? I took a day trip there when I was living in San Antonio. There is a bar/post office/general store and a dance hall. It seems the only claim to fame is the song by Waylon and Willie. If you ever drive that way ~ don't blink or you'll miss it.

Only, TX.

Why am I not surprised? :)

I'd love to hear the stories behind all of them on both lists.

Happy TT
