Tuesday Memes

Since I've been such a slacker lately with the blog, I guess I'll slack more and do memes today.  I actually like memes; I just think about something that someone else puts up, sort of like those writing assignments they used to give us in high school.  Timed writing, maybe?  Anyway, on with the show.

Oh, but wait!  Before that, I want to say, thanks for the supportive comments yesterday.  I survived.  I briefly toyed with the idea of coming home, dumping off the produce, then going to exercise.  When I got home, I was so physically ill from being up early that I went right back to bed.    I got up and had just begun sorting the produce when one of the ladies called and asked if it was finished yet.  "Um, no, I would have sent an e-mail out if it were."  No, I didn't say that but I did sheepishly confess to having gone back to sleep when I got home and suggested that she come and get her produce at the end of her errand running rather than at the beginning.  She didn't show up but her neighbor did, later, to pick her stuff up.

And Jennifer, yes, the little people were pressed into service, briefly.  They proved to be somewhat less reliable than required, so I "excused them from compulsory service" and grabbed their oldest sister.

I should have taken a picture but it honestly didn't occur to me.  Here's what we got for our $20:  5#s each of red potatoes, yellow onions, oranges, Fuji apples, and pears, a pineapple, 2-3 heads of Romaine lettuce, 2-3 cucumbers, 2-3 zucchini, 2 broccoli "bushes", 2 #s of long carrots, 2 packages of "baby" carrots...seems like there was something else but I can't remember what it was right now.  Anyway, I'm glad it's done for another month.

On to the memes:

Topic: Winter Wonderland

  1. When was the last time you built a snowman?  Probably earlier this year, after one of our snowfalls.  I remember that we had a big one, complete with ice on Valentine's Day, which meant that Friend Husband was home from work.  We built snowmen, had a snowball fight, and shoveled snow off the neighbors' driveways.

  2. When was the last time you threw a snowball at someone/something?

      3.  Seeing that it is now December, is it snowing in your area? If not, what's the weather like? (don't forget to include the current temperature degree)

It has been spitting a bit of snow here and there but no accumulation.  It's supposed to snow tomorrow, according to WeatherUnderground, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Heads or Tails:

As I think of the number three I think of the Count from Sesame Street. One. Two. Three. THREE! Ah ah ah!

I hesitated to answer this just because of Friend Gina's post last week (or maybe two now) about how one of the characters on the old Sesame Street freaked her out.  But, since this is a new meme to me (me, ha!), I'll just press on.  I think the point is to do lists of 3, so here goes:

3 things I need to do today:

1.  Put the twins' laundry away.  I had all our laundry from my mega-laundry thing piled up in our living room.  By piled, I mean strewn all about the room to ankle-deepness.  It started out piled but there's something amazing to little people and even bigger people about piles of things, be they leaves or laundry.  So I worked and worked yesterday, post-co-op, at getting them folded and into piles.  I finally finished after Friend Husband got home from work and said to the assembled family at large, "There's your laundry...put it away now and I mean put it away."  Ain't nothing more likely to tick off the Mama than strewing clean and folded clothes about one's domicile.  But I didn't put the twins' laundry away.

Yes, they can put their own laundry away, at least the stuff that goes into drawers.  But they like to sow it across their rooms like the rest of their siblings.  And I just couldn't handle that yesterday.

2.  Cut out coupons so that I can go grocery shopping sans twins tonight.  Of course, since the white death is supposed to descend upon us tonight, that might not be the smartest move.  We'll see.

3.  Clean the floors.  Which necessitates putting away the stuff that's lying on them.  Including small children.

3 things I want to get finished:

1.  The twins' quilts

2.  Terri's dishcloth

3.  Dave's sweater

3 good books I've recently (meaning in the last 2 months) read:

Bitter Sweets by Roopa Farooki

The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter by Sharyn McCrumb

The Immigrants I & II by Vilhelm Moberg

That's my answer!

Ok, first of all I just have to say that the woman who makes up these questions is a bit daft.  She says she finds it RUDE when people answer her questions with "it's up at my blog!"  Ill-advised, maybe, but RUDE?  Hmmm...and I thought I was testy.

What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookies?

My grandmother used to make spritz at Christmas.  They're the real version of those "Scandinavian butter cookies" one can buy in the big tins.  Man, were they good.  We don't celebrate Christmas but we generally have those cookies.

Are you afraid of clowns?  No.

Do you ever change the ring tone on your phone?

No.  When I get a new phone, I pick out the pre-programmed ringer that I like best and just stick with that.  I have never downloaded a new ring tone.

What is the most historical place you’ve visited?

What do we mean by "historical"?  Would that be "the oldest"?  Would it be "the place where most historically significant things have happened"?  I don't know.  I guess one of the places I've been with the most "history" was when I went to Europe for 2 weeks after high school graduation and saw a lot of the touristy sites:  Notre Dame Cathedral, the Arc du Triomphe, the Lourve (including the Mona Lisa), Shakespeare's house, a bunch of old old churches in England, and some old towns in Switzerland, Belgium, and Germany.

That's it for now.  I may do a Tackle-It Tuesday later on.  I surely need to tackle something around here, but we'll see.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

White death is snow? Ewwww!!!! People may wonder what I'm doing in Michigan if I hate it so much. LOL

Laundry never (ever) goes away does it? That was one of my goals yesterday. I almost got it done. Darn computer calls me back all the time, though.

It sounds like you're a craft person. Sewing and knitting or crocheting.

Welcome to HoT! I'll get you on the blogroll right after I finish.. which is... NOW! :)

I have oodles of laundry to put away today too. Gah! Unfortunately my 2 kiddos are too young to put theirs away just yet. Darn it!

Oh, I'm glad those weren't my three chores to do... Instead I had other errands. One was pleasant: the hairdresser! Much better :-)

Oh, my tackles are a memory right now. I did tackles the whole last autumn and spring and now I hardly have any left, so I haven't participated for a while :-)

Nice Heads or Tails...we will be expecting the white death here in WI too, but it hasn't started yet.

[My grandmother used to make spritz at Christmas] Mmmm... mine did too. I have never made them on my own. Maybe I will have to try it this year.
